6 WEEKS TO STARDOM

A NEW WAY FOR LOCAL AND EMERGING ARTISTS TO BOOK THE VARSITY

THE BIDDING PROCESS

Please refer to The Varsity Theater web calendar for available dates.

1. Each Monday the open dates for the Monday-Sunday of 6 weeks in the future become available to bids by local artists and/or their representatives.

To submit a bid for a date, please send the following information via e-mail:

In the subject of your e-mail please list it as follows: BID.(Your Band / Show Name).(Date of show)

i.e. BID.MyBand&Others.12/11/10

In the body of email, please include the following information:

Date being targeted:

Band names, Headliner listed first - No More than 3 Bands on the bill total

Proposed Cover Charge - Be realistic about what you think this bill can charge at the door and have people come to the show

Proposed Age Range: Either 18+ with I.D. or 21+ with I.D. – No All Ages Shows!

2. On Wednesday of the same week, The Varsity staff will notify the winning bids via e-mail, along with a request for all promotional materials for their show. Upon being sent the e-mail, the winning bid has 7 days to get all of their promotional materials to The Varsity. Failure to do so within that time will forfeit the bid and the date will go to the next bid in line for the date.

3. Once the booking team has received the promotional materials, the date will be officially put on the public calendar and the date is yours.

PLEASE NOTE :

The Varsity Theater welcomes "Six Weeks to Stardom" opportunities to artists who do not have a headlining performance (free or ticketed) within 30 miles of the scheduled Varsity show 14 days before and 14 days after.

Promoters or bands who deliver Line-ups on the night-of-show that vary from the promised line-up for which the date was awarded will be subject to a $100 deduction by the Varsity Theater from the bands’ share of the door revenues.

Artists/Promoters can only place one bill on one day with the same lineup. Also, the artists/promoters can not place multiple bids with variations on the same lineup.

This is not a a contract. Both The Varsity theater and the performer(s) agree to hold each other harmless in the event of a cancellation of the date.

THE SHOW LOGISTICS

Load in and sound check will begin at 3 hours prior to doors.
Doors open at 7pm the day of show. Music starts at 8pm
Bands will play sets of no longer than 45 minutes.
Admission is sold only at the door the night of the show – No pre-sale available.
No Guest List for any of the bands. Press passes are allowed provided they are approved by The Varsity

WHAT THE VARSITY PROVIDES

Venue Technicians to oversee the performance
Use of The Varsity’s lighting and sound equipment
Use of The Varsity’s video projection equipment (when feasible)
Standard load-in/sound check procedures up to 3 hours prior to door
Venue manager with box office staff
Standard promotional support including listing on the Varsity website and webcalendar, calendar flyers, calendar press releases, etc.

THE DEAL

The Door Admission sales will be split as follows:

First, The Varsity will take out 10.825% of the total door sales for city & state entertainment taxes
Next, the remaining monies will be split as follows:
- For 18+ shows – 50% to the artist/promoter, 50% to The Varsity
- For 21+ shows – 60% to the artist/promoter, 40% to The Varsity
- No All Ages shows.
- All splits are based on NET ticket income after the sales tax.

No guarantee to bands. No guarantee to venue.
Venue gets 100% of bar sales – No discounts will be applied from bar sales.
